The Georgia-based healthcare management company ApolloMD is preparing to pay $4.02 million to settle a class action lawsuit over a data breach incident.
The agreement compensates individuals whose personal and health information was compromised in a hack last year.
On May 22nd, 2025, unusual activity was detected on the company’s information technology network, according to the lawsuit. An investigation found an unauthorized third party may have accessed or acquired files containing the information of the patients treated by firm’s physicians and medical practices. The sensitive personal information may include names, dates of birth, addresses, diagnosis information, provider names, dates of service, treatment information, health insurance information and Social Security numbers.
The lawsuit claims inadequate security measures led to the breach affecting thousands.
Notices of the data breach were sent to affected individuals in September 2025 and March 2026. Those affected have until September 30th to file a claim to receive compensation for the impact.
Settlement class members are eligible to receive up to $5,000 for documented losses that arose as a result of the data breach. An alternative cash payment of $75 will also be provided, where settlement class members will not be required to provide proof of losses. The deadline to object to the settlement is August 31st. A final court hearing on the matter is set for October 5th.
ApolloMD agreed to settle without admitting fault.
