Partners Group has nominated the former CEO of Switzerland’s financial markets supervisory authority to its board of directors.
Urban Angehrn, who was the chief executive of Finma from November 2021 to September 2023, will focus on growth initiatives at the firm, with a particular focus on insurance. He will also have input on portfolio and risk management, digitisation and corporate operations.
Steffen Meister, executive chairman of the board, said: ‘The private markets industry continues to offer an enormous growth opportunity for a publicly listed, global firm like Partners Group, albeit within an increasingly complex regulatory and operating environment.’
Before working at Finma, Angehrn was the group chief investment officer and member of the executive committee at Zurich Insurance Group.
The Switzerland-listed Partners Group runs $152bn (CHF 137bn) in assets under management, investing across private equity, credit, real estate, infrastructure and royalties.
In its latest business update, the group said it raised $8bn in capital across its evergreen programmes in 2024 and attracted $5bn into its closed-end funds.
