UBS Global Wealth Management’s Apac co-head, Jin Yee Young said the bank was intent on keeping the India business it inherited from Credit Suisse, despite a fiercely competitive market.
The recent deal it struck with Indian wealth giant 360 One resulted from a need to be a certain size in order to survive in the domestic market, Young told Citywire Asia.
‘For a global Indian business, you cannot do onshore and offshore separately, it has to be together,’ she said, speaking on a video call from 360 One’s Mumbai office, hours after the Indian wealth manager officially filed to the stock exchange about the deal on 22 April.
